Foundation Contractors in East Yorkshire
Strip, trench fill, pad, raft and piled foundations for commercial buildings, agricultural buildings and new homes.

Foundations and Piling by CDH Construction
Ground conditions across the Humber and the Vale of York vary a great deal over short distances, and the foundation design follows the ground. We build the full range of foundation types, from simple trench fill on firm ground to reinforced rafts and piled foundations with ground beams where the ground is soft or made up.
We set out from the engineer's drawings, fix the reinforcement, form the shuttering and place the concrete with our own team. Holding down bolts, starter bars, ducts and drainage are cast in as the work proceeds so that the frame or the superstructure can start on time.
What the work includes
Strip and trench fill
Foundations excavated, inspected and poured for housing and light commercial buildings.
Pad foundations
Reinforced pads with holding down bolts set for steel frames.
Raft foundations
Reinforced concrete rafts with one or two layers of mesh and thickened edges.
Piled foundations
Pile caps and ground beams formed over the piles, with the piling mat prepared beforehand.
Setting out
Lines and levels set and checked with a total station.
Substructure
Brick and blockwork to damp course and beam and block floors.

Frequently asked questions
Which type of foundation will our site need?
That is decided by the structural engineer from the ground investigation and the loads from the building. We build to that design and can put you in touch with an engineer if the project does not have one yet.
When is a raft foundation used?
A raft spreads the load of the building across the whole footprint. Engineers commonly specify one on soft or variable ground and under buildings with heavy floor loads.
Do you carry out piled foundations?
Yes. We prepare the piling mat, attend on the piling contractor, then cut down the piles and build the pile caps and reinforced ground beams.
Do you set the holding down bolts for steel frames?
Yes. We set the bolts to the steelwork drawings and check their position with a total station before and after the pour.
