New site entrance with kerbing beside a road, civil engineering by CDH Construction in East Yorkshire

Civil Engineering by CDH Construction

Our civil engineering work covers the roads, yards and structures that a site runs on. We form new entrances off the highway, build access roads and heavy duty yards, lay kerbs and surfacing, and cast the reinforced bases that carry plant, tanks and substations.

Much of this work takes place on sites that have to stay in use. We plan the sequence, traffic management and working areas with the client so that deliveries, staff and the public can keep moving while the work is carried out.

What the work includes

Site entrances

New bellmouths, kerb lines and footpath crossings where a site meets the road.

Access roads

Sub-base, kerbing and tarmac or concrete construction for estate and service roads.

Yards and hard standings

Heavy duty tarmac and concrete yards for HGVs, storage and plant.

Car parks and paths

Surfacing, edging, drainage and lining for car parks and pedestrian routes.

Structural bases

Reinforced concrete bases for substations, tanks and plant.

Retaining walls

Brick and concrete retaining walls with the associated drainage.

Frequently asked questions

Can you build a yard that will carry HGV traffic?

Yes. We build yards to the pavement design in the specification, including the capping, sub-base and the tarmac or concrete construction, with the drainage and kerbing to suit.

Can the work be carried out while our site stays open?

In most cases, yes. We phase the work and agree access routes and working hours with you so that the site can keep operating.

Do you build bases for substations and tanks?

Yes. We form and cast reinforced concrete bases to the supplier's or engineer's drawings, including cable trenches, ducts and cast in fixings.

Do you carry out work for schools and public sector clients?

Yes. We have carried out access and surfacing work on school grounds and can programme the work around term dates and opening hours.
