Attenuation pond holding water with both headwalls in place, drainage and attenuation by CDH Construction in East Yorkshire

Drainage and Attenuation by CDH Construction

New developments have to hold back surface water and release it at a controlled rate. We build the drainage that makes that possible: the pipe runs, chambers and flow controls, and the ponds and tanks that store the water during heavy rain.

Pipes are laid to line and level on a prepared bed using a pipe laser, deeper excavations are supported with trench boxes, and each run is inspected before it is backfilled. We build to the drainage engineer's design and to the requirements of the adopting authority where the system is to be adopted.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between an attenuation pond and an attenuation tank?

Both store surface water and release it slowly. A pond is an open basin, which needs space but is simple to inspect and maintain. A tank is built below ground from crates or pipes, which leaves the surface free for parking or landscaping.

Can you build to a drainage engineer's design?

Yes. We build from the approved drainage drawings and levels, and we raise any clashes with other services before the work starts.

Do you lay large diameter pipes?

Yes. We lay concrete and twin wall pipes in supported trenches, bedded in gravel and set to gradient with a pipe laser.

Can drainage be included with the groundworks?

Yes. Most clients ask us to price the drainage with the foundations and external works so that one contractor is responsible for everything below ground.
